Festival Showcase 2010
|The 17th George Fairfax Prize
The 17th George Fairfax Prize For Playwrights Competition is Castlemaine State Festival's commitment to developing Australian writing. Following a national competition for playwrights, the Festival is delighted to award the Prize to Catherine Ryan for her play Precipice. Catherine lives close to Castlemaine and works as a writer, dramaturg, director and community theatre worker.
Precipice will be directed by Laurence Strangio who has previously directed such fine works as Motortown, Portrait of (Dora), La Douleur and his own compelling adaption of Margaret Atwood's alias Grace that recently toured to malaysia.
Precipice will be presented as part of a new Festival Showcase in 2010 and is generously supported by the besen Foundation.
