Art Into Poetry Now - Workshop
What happens when poetry actively engages with the visual arts? In Art into Poetry Now, leading writer Sandy Fitts will introduce a range of poems that highlight different approaches. Writing exercises will focus on links between the visual and the word. During the session, participants will look in depth at specific paintings in the Castlemaine Art Gallery’s collection, and will be encouraged to write poetry in response, based on the artwork and the experience of looking.
This class will suit writers who have already had some poetry published.
Sandy Fitts’ poetry collection, View from the Lucky Hotel, was published by Five Islands Press in 2008. Her poetry has won many prizes in the United Kingdom and Australia, including the Gwen Harwood Poetry Prize 2008.
